Tips & Tricks to Make Traditional Milk Kefir

Tips & Tricks for Traditional Milk Kefir

I have made kefir for years and learned a lot since I first started in 2011!! Here are my tips and tricks to help you move through your own learning curve that much easier 🙂

See milk kefir recipe here.

#1) I recommend making kefir with Body Ecology starter packets as they contain potent strains of lactobacillus bacteria and beneficial yeast that are hardy and easily travel into your intestines to work their probiotic magic ✨ These probiotics rid of any pathogenic overgrowth in the gut and strengthen digestion. Unlike most probiotics, the ones in this starter aren’t easily destroyed by antibiotics, fluoride, stomach acid, or chlorine. Worth every cent! And much cheaper than any probiotic supplement in the store and more effective on a holistic level. read more

Taking Time for Myself: Write in 10-Minutes

This is a 10-minute streamline writing, more about that here.

I have always taken time to be with myself. I find getting away to be therapeutic, kind of a walkabout if you will. Where I get in my car when weather is right and kids are cared for. I don’t have a destination and drive with adventure of moving to where feels right to go. Keeps me in the moment when I return to “home life”, a more predictable way of living with days that are scheduled and mornings that feel the same.

10 Ways to Avoid Group B Strep Infection in Pregnancy

Most pregnant women are not prepared for a group B strep diagnosis. I know that I wasn’t when my test came back positive at 38 weeks. At that point, I did not have time to reverse the condition and opted for i.v. antibiotics during labor. See here if unborn baby is at risk for GBS+.

Nori wraps rice into sushi like no one can beat.

This lean green machine is seaweed no doubt.

Orange Chocolate Torte: Recipe for B.E.D.

chocolate orange torteI created this recipe for a Kentucky Derby event I catered awhile back for a client who was practicing a way of eating, called The Body Ecology Diet (B.E.D). There were going to be many people at this event and my client asked me to make a dessert that everyone could enjoy; including her.

I set about the task of creating this recipe …. a chocolate torte with a touch of orange …. and one that would be delicious for all while still being B.E.D.-friendly. Excellent, one of my favorite things to do!

Thanksgiving Stuffing ~ Grain-Free & B.E.D. Friendly

Thanksgiving Spread-edited

This recipe came about when I first started The Body Ecology Diet (B.E.D.) and Thanksgiving came around. I could eat the turkey and vegetables but wanted a scoop of stuffing too. Bread was obviously out and most of the grain-free stuffing I found was made with nuts which didn’t combine well with meat. It wanted to adhere to food combining, a key healing principle on the diet, so I searched for an alternative.

Flax Frosting: Recipe for The Body Ecology Diet

This is quite possibly the most earthy and simple way to top carrot cupcakeswaffles, and even fill a layered cake. When you’re on a diet like B.E.D, recipes like this start to make sense and even taste good!

Kids, and adults, who haven’t grown up on sugar will appreciate this frosting’s subtle sweetness.

I use lakanto here because it’s a sweetener that doesn’t feed harmful yeast or bacteria in the body. Making it a great sugar substitute for anyone with yeast or bacterial issues. Diabetics too, because lakanto doesn’t influence blood sugar or insulin release.

As with many of my recipes, I created this while I was on stage 1 of The Body Ecology Diet (B.E.D.) to heal my yeast overgrowth. I wanted some sort of topping for muffins I was making, so I made this one…
